MFH Kim Sigmon (left) presents the Floyd Poole Award to Scott and Alison Shiminski for their work promoting and organizing social and fund-raising events during the past year.

Behind Kim's back, Tom Erickson congratulates out-going Chairman Mitzi Davis for her years of service. Tom now fills her office on the YVH Board of Directors.

Alison's arrangement of 100 roses topped by a race horse was a beautiful centerpiece for the Derby Party's appetizer table.

The crowd enjoyed appetizers and conversation before the Derby's post time. A big-screen TV was set up inside the barn aisle for viewing the race.

Bill Colvard (right,) personal milliner to Katie Hayes, helps her adjust his custom chapeau. Featuring roses and a horse, his hat was tall enough for Carmen Miranda.

Contestants, wearing everything from serious to sublime hats, line up for judging by the Masters.

Bim Stevenson's Dr. Seuss-style homemade top hat was the winner. Evelyn (right) wears a more conservative straw "boater."
