Yadkin Valley Hounds

Our hunt club held our 31st Annual Opening Hunt Nov. 3, 2007. We participate in live foxhunting in Davie, Iredell, Rowan, and Yadkin counties in North Carolina. We have both first and second fields — the former follows the Huntsman closely taking all jumps, the latter following at a somewhat slower pace and going around fences.
We meet twice a week, Wednesday and Saturday mornings, during the hunting season, mid-September through mid-March. Specific times and locations are announced on the Fixture Card.
YVH members enjoy a full social calendar throughout the year, from casual picnics to elegant evenings to weekend house parties. Please click on any of the links at left to learn more about YVH. We also welcome your inquiry.

HUNTING 101 CLINIC
Saturday, August 30, 8:15am - 3:00pm

Instructor: Kim Sigmon, Jt. Master and Huntsman

$50.00 per rider
includes lunch, bottled water, sodas and capping certificate

This is a one-day clinic with ground and mounted sessions designed to introduce you to foxhunting etiquette and situations encountered in the hunt field. Lunch with gourmet grilled burgers, courtesy of John Sigmon and Jerry McKenzie, is included and each participant will receive a complimentary capping certificate good for one day's hunting with Yadkin Valley Hounds during the 2008-09 hunt season(a $40 value.)

Members, Bring your entree to grill and a side dish to share for a relaxed evening together on the clubhouse terrace. Walk hounds @ 6 p.m., grills ready for barbequeing @ 7. Held each Friday of Timed Ride Weekends during the summer.

A lot of work goes into making our hunt fixtures and clubhouse property trimmed and rideable for hunting and the timed rides. The fact is our huntsman has been doing this work with borrowed WMD's — everything from a rented tractor to her own lopping shears. So, we've got a WISH LIST for the huntsman to help her perform her job efficiently, and without relying on her personal tool shed. Take a look at the list and see what resources you might have to move items from the right-hand column to the left-hand column

Notice to House, Senior, Ltd. Senior, Junior and Family Members of YVH: You do not have to call ahead if you want to ride your horse at the clubhouse property. Please sign in/out on clipboard in the mailbox near the picnic table. Please ask any guest who accompanies you to sign a liability release, also in the mailbox, and pay for any appropriate guest pass.

In the event of severe or questionable weather, confirm that hounds will hunt as scheduled by calling 336-998-3346. Our huntsman will leave an updated message on the answering machine. Bulletins are also posted here on the YVH website. Members may also contact the huntsman or joint master.
