Huntsman Laurie Baehr and Jt. MFH Jerry McKenzie, winners of the 2003 Cow Bell Award

Jerry and Laurie can't decide whether the McKenzies or the Baehrs get to redecorate their den wall for the next year.

2003 COW BELL AWARD
by Cam Hall, Jt. MFH

Twas the night of the Right Start Party and all through the crowd,
Everyone was drinking and wondering aloud.

Who would win the Cow Bell, that most cherished prize,
Who had entertained best with their deeds and their lies?

It hasn't been presented since year before last,
It was Six Gun Willy that won it in the past.

Who deserves it, who will it be,
Whose name will be on the plaque for all to see?

Could it be Evie for her trip to the john,
Why was the floor wet as Myrna's pond?

She also could win for trying to feed big birds,
Her turkey training efforts were really absurd.

But tonight she'll be spared, her name won't appear,
on the front of the plaque in the place we hold so dear.

What was left unseen and never mentioned,
Is what has really gotten the Cow Bell attention.

The kennels were built, they're really the best,
When the MFHA inspects, they'll pass the test.

But how did it happen so nice and so fast,
Leaving the sisters and Cleveland in the past?

Plumbing and wiring and blocking and fence,
You know there must have been moments so tense.

The secret story of the build and move must be a hoot,
But the two who did the most are remaining quite moot!

We know that their deeds would really make us smile,
and they will keep quiet for quite a long while.

The prize will go to two who will share,
The bell goes to the duo of McKenzie and Baehr!
