Teams may start any time between
8:30am - 1:30pm

Entries are $15.00 per rider. A maximum of three riders is allowed per team, with the additional rider's fee of $15. More than one team of friends may ask to start consecutively. Only two ribbons or prizes will be awarded per team.

If you do not have a teammate, you may match up with another team or single rider when you arrive at the timed ride

Teams of 2 or 3 riders are timed on a marked trail through woods and fields, rolling hills, flatland and across streams. Your team's time will be compared with a pre-ridden time. Teams coming closest to this time in each division will win. The route will vary and feature dozens of jumps, all with go-arounds. After completing the ride and recording your time, you may repeat the trail ride for pleasure at no additional cost.

Snacks and soft drink concessions

Riders will compete for year-end individual trophies in each of the three categories — slow, medium and fast. The Laurene Mann Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the rider with the highest number of points overall at the conclusion of the 2010 season.

DIVISIONS

Fast: A course to be ridden at a strong trot and canter. Perfect conditioning for endurance horses and riders.
Moderate: Walk, trot or jog, canter or lope a little. A more moderate pace for those who like sightseeing.
Slow: A mostly walking pace, with some trotting or jogging. Great for green horses or riders.

Casual dress. Do not wear a watch while riding. Wear a hard hat if planning to jump. Proof of negative Coggins within the past year required.

Directions: Hunter Grove is off NC67 between Boonville and East Bend in Yadkin County.
From Charlotte, Hickory: Take I-77 north; take exit 82. Go east on NC 67. Follow 67 to Boonville. Go straight at 601 intersection and continue approx. 3.5 miles. Turn left on Pendry Road. You will pass a western roping arena on the left. As the road begins a curve to the right, turn left onto Hunter Grove Trail, a long graveled drive. Follow drive to parking area.
From Mocksville-Salisbury area:
Take 601 north through Mocksville and Yadkinville to Boonville. Turn right at stoplight in Boonville on to NC 67. Go 3.5 miles. Turn left on Pendry Road. You will pass a western roping arena on the left. As the road begins a curve to the right, turn left onto Hunter Grove Trail, a long graveled drive. Follow drive to parking area.
From YVH Kennel-Advance area: Take 801 North to flashing light in Farmington. Turn right on to Farmington Rd. Follow to T intersection at Courtney-Huntsville Rd. and turn left. Go about 2 miles and turn right on to Speer Bridge Rd. Cross bridge over new 421 and continue to T intersection with old 421. Turn left on Old 421. Go approx. 2.5 miles. Bear right on Pilot View Church Road, following the signs for Rag Apple Lassie Vineyard. At first stop sign continue straight but road name will change to Sugartown Road or Shugarttown Road. At next stop sign turn right on to Rockford Road. Go approx. 2.8 miles (passing Rag Apple Lassie Vineyard on your right) to intersection with NC 67. Turn right on 67. Follow NC 67 for less than one mile. Turn left on Pendry Road. You will pass a western roping arena on the left. As the road begins a curve to the right, turn left onto Hunter Grove Trail, a long graveled drive. Follow drive to parking area and follow as above.
From Lewisville-Clemmons area: Take 421 North across Yadkin River into Yadkin County. Take second exit after crossing river (Speer Bridge Road). At top of ramp turn right. Go to end of road. Turn left on Old 421. Go approx. 2.5 miles. Bear right on Pilot View Church Road, following the signs for Rag Apple Lassie Vineyard.
