Important:
Riders competing in faster divisions do NOT have the right-of-way over slower riders. If you wish to pass a slower team:

1. slow down early enough not to alarm or push the slower horses
2. ask permission to pass
3. proceed past the slower horses at a fast walk or slow trot, resuming your preferred pace once you are a safe distance away from the slower horses.

Please report a description of horses and riders who disregard these instructions and pass you without proper courtesy or caution. Their team will be disqualified. Help YVH keep the timed rides safe and fun for all.

Entries are $15.00 per rider. A maximum of three riders is allowed per team. More than one team of friends may ask to start consecutively. Only two ribbons or prizes will be awarded per team.

If you do not have a teammate, you may match up with another team or single rider when you arrive at the timed ride

Teams of 2 or 3 riders are timed on a marked trail through woods and fields, rolling hills, flatland and across streams. Your team's time will be compared with a pre-ridden time. Teams coming closest to this time in each division will win. The route will vary and feature dozens of jumps, all with go-arounds. Ribbons will be awarded to the first six places in each division. After completing the ride and recording your time, you may repeat the trail ride for pleasure at no additional cost.

Open to all ages, English and Western — Six ribbons for each division

Sponsored by Yadkin Valley Hounds

We have water for horses, bathroom facilities and lots of parking.

Riders will compete for year-end individual trophies in each of the three categories — slow, medium and fast. The Laurene Mann Perpetual Trophy will be awarded to the rider with the highest number of points overall at the conclusion of the season.

DIVISIONS

Fast: One loop of the course to be ridden at a strong trot and canter. Perfect conditioning for endurance horses and riders.
Moderate: One loop at a walk, trot or jog, canter or lope a little. A more moderate pace for those who like sightseeing.
Slow: One loop at mostly walking pace, with some trotting or jogging. Great for green horses or riders.

Casual dress. Do not wear a watch while riding. Wear a hard hat if planning to jump. Proof of negative Coggins within the past year required.
